There are automatic doors at the entrance to the Watershed. The reception area is quiet and easy to access with plenty of room to get around. There are two big double doors into the changing area that I wouldn’t be able to access myself as they are too heavy but the staff there are very friendly and helpful. The changing area has plenty of space. I find the changing room big but when I go into it I need to move a big bin to have enough room to move my chair around.
The hand rail beside the toilet is rusty and does not stay up. Sometimes, I set off the hand dryer as it very close to the toilet. Overall it is easy to use the facilities as they are all in one big area at my level.
There is a hoist at the pool to get me in to the water. The lifeguards are very helpful if I need them to help me get in to the pool. When I am in the pool I use one of the noodles to help me keep my head and shoulders above the water. I swim a few lengths of the pool and I use the hoist to help get me out of the pool again. I then go back into the wheelchair accessible changing room to get back into my own clothes. I really enjoy going swimming.
The swimming loosens up my joints. I am so happy to have the support to go swimming. I love being in the water. I have more freedom in the water and it is great exercise for me.
